Therapeutic Ultrasound
Healing that is loud and clear.
Ultrasound uses painless sound waves to provide deep heat to soft tissues in the body. It is delivered using a small hand-held device called a transducer, similar to what you may have seen used to take images of a fetus in pregnant women.
After applying a gel to improve sound wave transmission, the transducer is moved in a gentle circular motion to generate deep heating that helps with blood circulation and reducing inflammation, swelling and pain. It can also help relax tissues so they respond better to stretching or chiropractic adjustment.
Ultrasound is useful for helping heal injuries to:
Muscles
Tendons
Ligaments
Joints
